Members of the Business Roundtable—made up of CEOs from many of the largest U.S. corporations—recently released a new statement of purpose saying business should consider all stakeholders, rather than focusing on shareholders. This focus on workers, environment, and community as well as the bottom line is nothing new for Certified B Corporations, which pledge to do just that when they sign the Declaration of Interdependence.
This recent attention on business as a force for greater good offers B Corps an opportunity to lead by example, and encourage other companies to join the movement. As more consumers align their purchases with their values, more people seek a workplace where they add value and feel valued, and more investors opt for companies with a long-term, sustainable focus, the B Corp community stands ready to welcome them.
Keep up with the latest from the B Corp community in our B the Change Weekly Friday newsletter, and on our B Corporation Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram channels.
