African Business Women (ABW) Connected is built on the understanding that trade is essential to long-term sustainable economic growth. In September 2014, in Ethiopia, ABW Connected will launch the first ever continent-wide Summit & Trade Expo in three of the largest export sectors for women; craft/textiles, agribusiness for cosmetics and tourism. For the first time ever, buyers worldwide – including those in Africa – will be able to connect with the best companies from each country in one location in Africa.
These African women exporters have a profound impact on their broader communities; providing both economic opportunities and social programs to thousands of rural communities across the continent.
ABW Connected’s mission is to enhance the economic performance of women entrepreneurs in Africa thereby having a significant impact on Africa’s most vulnerable.
Up to ten leading women from each country in Africa will be sponsored to attend the summit including two students, two businesswomen association representatives and two companies/sector.
The summit is intended to become a long-term sustainable program with the inaugural summit and trade expo in Ethiopia in 2014 and future summits to be held every two years in different regions throughout Africa.
